Prof. Painter will argue that we do indeed have a moral obligation to be vegetarians, not only because non-human animals are equal members of the moral community, but also in light of the methods of factory farming typically employed in industrialized nations. Prof. Thompson will argue that vegetarianism is not morally obligatory.
